Giddy up and good knight! Chema Madoz’s @chemamadozphotographer 2002 silver gelatin print titled “Caballo Ajedrez” stands out and at attention in this @romamoulding Gianni frame in Vintage Cocoa and Gold under @crescentbrands black 8-ply cotton rag matting and @truvueglazing Museum glass.

Hailing from Spain, Chema Madoz (b.1958) is known for his surreal photos reminiscent of artists like Marcel Duchamp and Rene Magritte. All his works are all impressively enhanced by in-camera techniques without the use of postproduction editing tools.

We’re in puppy love with these original panels by the legendary cartoonist Brad Anderson of his Great Dane character Marmaduke — who’s apparently up to his old tricks again! 🐾
Anderson drew the beloved comic from 1954 to his death in 2015. He aimed to create a dog with an “expressive face,” so we wanted to match that mutt’s mug with some equally expressive framing! To bring out all that beautifully inked line work we chose a vintage-looking black-core Bruxelles matboard from @crescentbrands, put them in a @larsonjuhl Tribeba Black moulding to additionally enhance the linear look, and kept him protected under some reflection-free museum glass from @truvueglazing so that crazy canine looks his doggone best! 🐶 🖼️ 👅

We just framed these four beautiful tiles from Portugal called Azulejos, a word derived from Arabic meaning “polished stone,” as they were meant to replicate Byzantine and Roman mosaics. Historically this tin-glazed ceramic tile work was imported from Spain and used for religious architecture. Nowadays they can been seen lining the Lisbon Metro @metro.lisboa (see last pic) and pretty much everywhere else you can think of — including inside this very fitting @fotiouframes Arcade moulding, floated on a White Sands @crescentbrands mat and topped off with shatterproof plexiglas! The enameled sheen, arched details and azure tones of the frame recall the tile’s glossy surface while highlighting its geometric and floral patterns. Que bonito!! 🇵🇹 💙 👍🏻

One of our wonderful customers brought in this original Keith Haring @keithharingfoundation poster from a long forgotten (now wildly rediscovered) 1987 artist-created amusement park in Hamburg called Luna Luna. @lunaluna

From the website: “Thirty-six years ago, Luna Luna landed in Hamburg, Germany: the world’s first art amusement park with rides, games, and attractions by visionary artists like Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, and David Hockney. By a twist of fate, the park’s treasures were soon sealed in 44 shipping containers and forgotten in Texas—until now.”

As you can see from the last picture, the park’s main theme colors were an electric blue and brilliant yellow, so we used those two hues in the @crescentbrands double matting, capped by a simple rounded @larsonjuhl Brooklyn Black moulding and protected by Optium museum plexi from @truvuefineart to give it full visibility, which it has been craving for the last three decades after hiding in its crate!

Presenting an utterly elegant, teeny-tiny portrait (2.5 x 2”) that fits beautifully into its equally wee @studio_moulding Sierra Buff float frame! This minuscule yet detailed oil painting was done by postwar artist Mary Sims (1940-2004), who said of her art: "I paint because I love what things look like, and I love to explore them, down to the thread in the buttonhole."

This uniquely-shaped egg cutter needed something deep, down-home and rustic, but with a little shot of pizazz to match its fancy strut! We were tasked by a customer to make a deep frame with a door that could open & close around shelving that they could display their thousands of Polaroids. We used a flat black 2.75" deep @larsonjuhl Jasper moulding for the main frame with a @romamoulding .5" deep moulding for the door. A 'piano hinge' was used for strength. The shelves were made with another Larson moulding and we glazed the door with @truvueglazing Optium acrylic. The customer provided the clasp and requested the interior be an off-white. We don't usually take on these almost interior carpentry jobs but this seemed fun - and it was!

The cotton candy colorways of these @nataliafabia prints look purrrfectly punchy in their @romamoulding and @bellamoulding frames! The first piece, appropriately named “Pink Kitty,” was matted with a bright white rag mat and topped off with a deep Bella Blue Raku frame for some grand galactic feline vibes. 🐱🍧✨🛸
The second print, “Bad Religion Amp - Baker’s World,” has an additional signature from Natalia’s hubby @jaybentleys of @badreligionband and screams “pretty in punk” inside its Roma charcoal Savoir frame.

These lovely frames make the perfect “vessels” for some lively Frank Ozereko prints! The first blue/green piece is framed in a @bellamoulding Quarry moulding in turquoise; the second image of a black and white print is in the @larsonjuhl black Devon moulding. Lightly colored jute and canvas fabric matboards give a fitting finish to the works, while also recalling the crisscross patterning and textures within the block prints themselves.

Not all framing warrants a clean look; sometimes you need a little distress in your life! The supercool art of Texan artist and rocker Troy Wayne Delco looks right at home (on the range) in this industrial-looking Larson Juhl Anvil Aged Steel moulding which showcases a poster and accompanying accoutrements from Troy’s band The Beaumonts’ 2012 tour with @saustex band Hickoids @hickoids !
